Taking Action
Partnership Economics Ideas for Portland, Oregon (PDF) (Developed by Riane Eisler for her presentation in Portland, Oregon on Oct. 26, 2007)
Ideas for how we can work in partnership to support an economic system that values caring for humans and the earth.
- Get comfortable with the language and terminology central to this work. Talk with family, neighbors, co-workers, friends.
- Join or form a book group.
- Develop standards for work places, families, child care centers and schools based on a caring economics. What would these entities look like, feel like?
- Establish standards and a system of recognizing caring entities in our communities similar to the LEED standard for sustainable buildings. Make awards and promote the concepts of caring throughout the community.
- Work on a national legislative agenda for programs that support children and families.
- Conduct research on alternative economic models and develop/promote a model where caring for people and the earth are given value and counted.
- Work in groups according to interest area: local currency, support for caregivers, women's issues, etc.
